Why don't I like whiskey?

I always find Whisky is better if you drink it neat with a couple of large ice cubes. The coldness make it much more palatable.

It's also important to hold the whisky in your mouth for a couple of seconds before swallowing. This will take the harshness off. True story.

Most will also say the cold will kill the flavours which is the point of drinking it, but I add a cube or 2 to mine because that's how I like it.
Infact I've switched the whisky stones which a little lumps of granite you leave in the freezer so they cool it without watering it down which I like.

Recently started using Whisky stones too. Mixed results really as sometimes they don;t seem to add enough of a chilled edge, but certainly better than totally diluting it with ice

:D

One of the strongest drinks I've had was vodka, something like 95%.

It was nice, but I think it was Polish. :)

Probably Polish Spirit or rectified spirit. It is 95% proof, mainly used for making drinks. A drink to make the hairs on your chest stand on end and leave you legless if you consume in any quantity.

Was almost tempted to get some, but what is the difference between just putting the whisky in the fridge for a bit?

Or even chilling the glass

Do you mean 95% ABV? As 95 proof is only 47.5% ABV

This.
An incident involving 3/4 of a bottle of Glenmorangie when I was 16 kinda did it for me...
(Hated it then, too. Just wanted to get shedded. And oh my, did I get there.).

^^^^^^^^^This had me rolling..... :D:D

Same thing happened to me with Bells whiskey, never touched it since! :p

A five-day hangover from that one. :(
Big respect to my mum though- she gave me no punishment whatsoever, despite having to drag me from the back yard to bed, then remove my muddy, puke-stained clothes. (Yeh that's embarrassing...)
All she did was pull me out of bed the next morning, and force me onto the 7.30am bus for college. I have never wanted to die so badly as I did that day.
Looking back, I'm fairly surprised I didn't... The memory of that night has never returned, nearly 20 years on...

I love whisky, having a nice Laphroaig QA Cask now. Lovely dram.

But yes, I remember (or at least, remember the aftermath) of drinking a bottle of Sambuca in 20 minutes. That was silly. Can't touch the stuff now.

You were obviously classy drunks, i remember nearly getting my stomach pumped after drinking 3 litres of white lightening (we were 15 and thought it was cool to drink nasty cider and smoke a pack of 10 embassy no1s, mmm my chavy days lol, i cant stand cider anymore cheap or expensive
