Why get a Macbook?

Haha, just giving you options - none of the Mac users here are going to, let's be honest. :p

Not trying to troll at all, by any means, hopefully everyone understands that. I've always been very careful when making big purchases, and have always felt it's important to know what other options exist. It's one of the reasons I considered a MacBook myself.

Those black Macs do look very nice...somehow Apple manage to make black look good, while most black PC notebooks look generic and cheap.

Oh no definitely not trolling, you've actually been very helpful but I'm pretty much set on a black macbook now :) I'm getting pretty excited as I'm ordering it tommorow hopefully.

Nothing more annoying than voicing an opposed opinion and being branded with the troll brush!

Oddly I am not a Macbook owner. I just have the good fortune to spend a lot of time on one. And they really are cracking machines.

That's exactly it, really; I'd hate for people to take one look at my sig picture and think "Uh oh, another Windows user here to give an uninformed, anti-Mac opinion". There's undoubtedly people who fit that view on here, but I'm hopefully not one of them!

I'm considering a Black MacBook to take to work in my new job.

Providing on the need, I'll see what the situation is like in a month

Btw is it true that the palm rest can discolour, or is that a non-issue, also ive been reading that the edges of the macbook can be quite sharp. What are peoples opinions on this?

The plastics on the early revisions of the MacBook was of a dodgy mix/batch.

However, Apple have sorted this and iirc this doesn't happen anymore :)

The edges are pretty sharp, but not noticable unless you hang your hangs over them constantly.

Try it first, you may be alright with it.

It's not noticeable until you start looking for it.

Unless the keyboard and plastics than have been replaced on this Macbook 3 times have all been part of the "dodgy batch", im sorry but that simply isn't true. It's white, and it discolours. Just happens!

Well I'm assuming its not an issue with the black macbook?

Edit: WOOOOT! Just ordered...Can't Wait! £851.88 for macbook black with Iwork 08 is good enough for me :D. Plus £49.99 on some Creative Gigaworks T20's takes the grand total to £901.87 (And well spent It is :D)

Will post pics and Bread when it arrives.

Estimated Delivery: 27 Mar, 2008 - 31 Mar, 2008

Didn't get apple care in the end but meh still has 3 years parts and labour warranty, Guy on the phone kept telling me that apple stores reserve the right to turn me away if they have too many customers to deal with. I said fair enough I'm willing to take the risk.

Woah! Don't shoot the messenger :p

I'll admit that, but the first batch of true new-look MacBook revisions went noticably yellow in about 2 weeks and was admitted (by Apple) as a known issue. Have a look at the pictures in the link, oh, and go wash ;)
