Hi,

Just just downloading a tv programme via utorrent a second ago and i saw

11.1 MB/s

The download took about 16 seconds (350mb)

My internet is only around 11 meg at best, so this is x10 faster.

Any idea why it would do this. Not done it since.

With all the details you've posted it's a simple matter to determine that your widget interfered with the flux capacitor causing a small hole in the space time continuum.

Are you sure another PC on your network wasn't seeding it? 11.1 MB/s is pretty much what you'd see over a 100 Mbps LAN connection.

No other computers on the network whatsoever, and i hadnt ever downloaded/seed the programme before. I took an image of the screen and it isnt validating, but downloading.

I honestly dont understand why it was so fast. I was expecting it to get to 99% and then just stop, but it finished. Since then its all returned back to normal.

Very strange being able to download that much data in effectively a matter of seconds!

:D

The only time I've seen a faster sustained download than my connection was back on 56k and downloading a large text file which made use of compression at the remote side. Was still only 12 KB/s or something though.

Indeed, I remember downloading <insert popular film here> when I was much younger and getting a good 1.1MB/s on 56k dial up.

Except it was an AVI header, with the rest of the file just zero-padded to make it big. Queue stream-compression, enjoy fast speed.

had this on my adsl line a year ago not long after i got onto 24meg would get speeds about 300 meg for about 10 secs at the start of downloads then it would settle down gave me awefull pings though then my line totally died as way to much power was coming down my line blew my router and the cabinet outside my house. ide raise a fault with your isp

Yeah I'm sure that's exactly what happened... ;)

I experienced a similar thing recently too, my download was around 50kbs then it jumped to 11MB for about 1 minute, then dropped back down to 50kbs again, weird
