Why have certain CPUs increased in price?

It's not "hysteria".
It's uncertainty.

Precisely why it will only get worse for the next two years....

We need to be either IN or OUT of Europe very quickly. Dragging it out will only weaken the pound. I don't even care which way it is anymore. I just want a resolution. That way the pound can recover.

i noticed the CPU price hike long before brexit

my £720 5960x is now £899 at most places

might be lucky and pick one up for 850 but not much lower than that

the good value 5820k @ 289.99 is long gone

hello £330

Motherboards have shot up as well the one i want has gone up by £10 with all the price rises my build has gone up by nearly £60 so have put it off now until prices come back down even if its a year or more.

£320 Rampage V Extreme is now £380-390

im glad i got x99 when i did and its still a strong platform that will last a while because at these new prices this hobby is getting really expensive

My 6600k was £199 not so long ago. Just noticed ocuk are now selling them for £230 retail.:eek::eek: That's crazy, £230 for an i5...

Given how little the new CPUs are offering in terms of performance increase, it might just give (2nd gen i5/i7 onwards) people the incentive to hold off until prices return?
Unless you're needing M2/USB 3.1, and absolutely require these features built-in to motherboard, is it worth a platform upgrade right now?

That's just OC prices. They are still under 200 elsewhere. I even bought a 6700k for £285 only a week ago.

It's bizarre isn't it. I bet the stock they have has already been paid for pre brexit but Gibbo gotta eat I suppose.
