Why I hate DOTA2

You are playing with people that have a lot higher MMR is expected to be getting into games with high mmr people. Me and my mates all made the move the Dota 2 in January together, we have grown our skills together, so our MMR is all the same, so we get games of our level. If we have someone that isn't at our MMR they get our mmr after a few games and when they solo they are out of there depth.

Its standard play.

Best thing I can say is watch twitch dota 2 games ect, just keep playing, First month is stressful And MMR doesn't really settle until about 200games played. I've got over 700 and I think its rather settled now. I found a lot of my game knowledge came from Reddit/Streams/Youtube. I do spend 8+ hours a day on dota 2 content/playing easily.

I also come from competitive CS 1.3 ect and 1.6 was all I played up to CSGO closed beta.

as you get more games under your belt this problem will dissappear but then you'll face the biggest flaw of the game that valve shows no intent of fixing. forced 50% win rate unless you constantly play with a stacked team. dota 2 needs leagues ala sc2 or lol.

What I hate about dota, amongst other things, is when matchmaking messes up and groups up seasoned player with newbies and seasoned player proceeds to explain game mechanics and roles to the new players when he sees they have no clue what to do and they proceed to tell the season player, who is trying to be friendly, to"stfu" and other insults. I swear out of me trying to help newbies only 10% actually said thanks instead of telling to to go you know where.

That's probably because you're in the 5%~ group of experienced players that will try and take the time to explain things rather that just rage at them for being inexperienced, which is what they've no doubt become used to :P

Its not that bad being new really, limited hero games, those learning modes and generally you get a lot of bad people in your games, you do get the odd smurf account though.

Try learning in hon, that tested your resolve where the position in the team would be determined by your stats/rank. E.g. it placed you in last spot if you were the worst on the team, also people could check your stats.

Get thick skin and be prepared to battle through awful games or go home really, it ain't easy being crap at the start unless someone is carrying you

Its the nature of these matchmaking systems.

If you want better matched games you need to get your invisible ranking out of the start zone. At the moment as a new player you are playing people with a similar ranking but varying levels of MOBA experience, hence the large variance in player skill you are finding.

The only way to get better matches is just to play games, win or lose it doesn't matter they all will influence your ranking which in turn will help the system learn and find players closer to your level.

If you read the dev forums they have stated they do not enforce 50% win rate. If that was true then everyone but the very best and very worst players would be roughly 50% after they had played enough games.

Just stumbled across a video on youtube where the prize was a stupid amount of money, for one game, WTF!?

Nate

It wasn't for one game. Its a huge tournament that Valve sets up each year that only the best teams in the world get to compete in.

There is a load of stages leading up to the finals which is a best of 5.
