Why is Amazon Prime's pricing model so broken?

I don't watch tv much but on NY day it was frustrating to find so much paid for stuff on there while browsing with my old PS3, is there a way to get rid of the paid content when doing that or is it only on the website. ''Tis just annoying to flick through, click on something, wait a second for the screen to load, see it is paid for... click to move back... then try again with another movie etc...

Push select on the main screen to filter it, although it appears to ignore this setting when you search

It also resets every time, wish there was a "I will never buy or rent anything so please permanently hide anything not included" setting...

I find it really frustrating...

Subscribed a few days ago watch Man in The High Castle, will mostly likely hammer through the 2 seasons then go back to Netflix TBH, at least on there you know if you can see it you can watch it!

Hell, I just use the Samsung Amazon app directly on my tv, works well enough.

Rinsed Last Man On Earth, and watched a few movies over the past 2 weeks.

Even if it's £99.99 for all seasons, who is mad enough to pay it for something that is not physical and something you'll never own. I'd rather pay £70 for the DVD box set, least that way I would own it can watch it whenever and however I like even in years to come.

Like said, it's no wonder the Kodi addons are so popular.

Methinks I'll watch all the GT episodes on there and cancel tbh.

Before you do cancel it, watch Start up and Bosch, both great Amazon Prime series.

Not entirely true, you wouldn't be able to watch it on phone, tablet or possibly laptop either as you'd need a drive and the physical media.

Cheers, I'll check those out!

*cough* rip or actually, some titles (UV?) let you download a copy to your devices anyway?

Well when DVD readers and Blu-Ray readers get >10 years old and stop working and no one is making them anymore... you wont be saying that.

Digital distribution will eventually be the majority share.

To be honest I'm not really interested in watching movies on my phone screen and DVD/Blu-ray players aren't going to be obsolete anytime soon. Plus I don't need an Internet connection to watch a DVD. :)

You could say the same about streaming... When Amazon/Netflix/whichever platform you "bought" your media on goes bust/decides it's no longer financially viable to continue providing that service, then *poof* bye bye digital content

You can still pick up old Betamax and VHS players so I'm sure there will be plentiful DVD/Blu-ray players around in 10+ years time.

Will some online streaming company still be storing and streaming your purchased movies for no extra cost in 10+ year time?

This.

Hope this doesn't qualify as competitor speak as this is about the streaming service.

I have Prime mostly for deliveries but got a Fire Stick and thought I'd check out some stuff last night. Having a browse through the stuff that isn't included as part of the subscription, I'm astonished at how broken some of their pricing is.

Example: Game of Thrones Season 1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Season-Epi...3447613&sr=8-1&keywords=game+of+thrones+prime

Buy season one HD for £99.99!

or for £13.49 on Blu-Ray:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Game-Thron...7760&sr=8-2&keywords=game+of+thrones+season+1

What's going on? Surely they can't have many takers for that? No wonder Kodi with particular plugins is so popular these days!

a) the digital is 6 seasons, not 1

b) The pricing is set by HBO and SKY which has the rights.
If you subscribe to Now TV you get it for free with your basic entertainment package. (please double check since Now TV doesn't run always the Game of Thrones).

c) Prime has nothing to do with things that are not on prime package.

Personally I find Prime good value for money. Because
i) I buy almost every two weeks something from Amazon. So it's cost is written off straight away by month 3.
ii) They have some pretty good series like Man in High Castle, Lucifer, Mr Robot, Black Sails, Grand Tour, and The Americans to name a few.
iii) Replaced Netflix for me, since last year crack down on VPN (netflix), making impossible to watch Netflix US or Japan, which have by far the best content than the UK one.

Yes they do not have everything, and you have to buy stuff, but that's how it is. Get the discs, or find someone who has it to borrow. Believe me if you ask around, someone would lent you his disks....

FYI Vikings is better than GOT. ;)

No, but you do need the actual DVD. This Christmas, it was great that I could just throw 'Empire Strikes Back' onto my mum's TV. Then, 'Miami Twice' the next day. I love having all my media in the cloud, it's so convenient.

Also, you get a lot of deals on Google Play. The entire Only Fools and Horses catalogue cost me £9 this Christmas. Of course you get money through Rewards, so actually it could have been free if I chose to pay that way.
