Why is coke so bad for you?

verdicts still out on that. test have come back in both yards. But anyone whos says it's worse than normal stuff is just kidding them self. Sugar is so bad for you. It's worse than fat.

Since when has sugar been bad for you? What an amazingly stupid statement.

Anything in excess is bad for you. Water can kill you.

errmm...yes but the amount of sugar it takes to be in "excess" isn't very much...whereas you have to drink a LOT of water in a short amount of time to cause any serious problems.

It is however lethal for your teeth's enamel coating. I have a relly who is a dentist. He had a patient who never ate sweets, but basically lived on coke and drank almost nothing else. Patient also wasn't the most regular at brushing etc, maybe once every two days. Ended up with full dentures (upper and lower) at the age of 25.

Mind you, I'm not saying the other fizzy drinks / fruit juices are any better, just that I don't know :p

Wait...are we supposed to be surprised that someone who drank loads of soda and brushed their teeth once every few days got bad teeth?

Nope - it's the nature and extent of the damage. Losing a few teeth isn't great, but full dentures means you've basically rotted away more than 30 out of the 36 you started with. And you managed to do it in 25 years, rather than in say 70 or more. Now, on the whole good/bad scale, I'd say that's bad and probably worse than people generally realise

Of course..he now has perfectly straight and white teeth that can't rot. :D

And think how impressed his bird will be at the end of the evening when he had to take the dentures out and put them in a glass beside his bed...sounds like a pulling magnet to me :)

lol. For someone who brushed their teeth only ever 2 days....well I just don't think he was ever pulling chicks...and most likely won't ever be.

excess which most people drinking fizzy drinks will exceed, it becomes bad just like fat or anything else. However the governments focused so much on fat and salt, people don't realise sugar is in fact worse than either.

Don't know how much coca-cola is different from Lucozade, but I was speaking to a guy that works in a local haulage company, they had to store crates of Lucozade for a period of time in their warehouse - a few bottles burst and leaked over the concrete nearby; the next morning it was possible to scrape the concrete off with no effort whatsoever because the acids in the Lucozade had eaten so much of it off.
