Actually, the real question is, why is eating corn off the cob so much nicer than just loose sweetcorn?
It's the same vegetable, yet somehow it seems better gnawing and crunching into it than just spooning it up from a pile on the plate. I guess it proves that food enjoyment comes from more than just the food but also the way we get to eat it. Perhaps it's like chocolate. A kitkat for instance is more enjoyable as two or four fingers in thin silver foil than a block of it in a plastic wrapper.
