Why is DDR1 still so expensive?

I'm putting together a pc out of a load of old spare bits I have left over from previous upgrades and dead computers.

Only thing I need to finish it is 2x1GB DDR1 sticks, but the prices are insane.

The absolute cheapest I could find was £47 for 2GB DDR1. I could get 4GB of decent DDR2 for that!

Go have a look on the bay, you mind find some better prices there :)

Costs more to manufactor old computer parts, and demand its so low :)

You might be better selling up your old equip, old AMD Socket A stuff is highly sought after and still brings in a good 2nd hand price.

Maybe, but it's not an AMD system. I'm not sure it would be worth selling the bits individually.

Abit IT7-MAX2V2.0
P4 2.8Ghz
2GB PC2700 (when I find it)
Radeon 9500 Pro 128mb
80GB WD hdd

Good enough for a few low spec, last-gen games or a work pc.
