DDR1 is only being made in very small quantities these days and that pushes up the price.

DDR2 is being produced in large quantities and that pushes down the price.

I know exactly what you mean, im at the stage where i need to get a 2gb pair of 3200 sticks, and 2gb ddr is almost half the price in some places.

Yeah I been looking at a number of places, I want 2gb for dual chan, and DDR2 is like way cheaper.

Nope, can only be done with two sticks

Yes you can run dual channel fine with 4 x 512MB.

each channel = 1GB so I don't see why not.

Only thing is, You will be forced to run the memory with a 2T cmd

Yup ... I got 4 x 512 all running in Dual Channel on an Abit IS7 board
