I have the S27A750D, and i am using displayport but i am always having problems!
First i bought a mini dp to dp as i have an HD 6970 with 2 mini dp, but i got the this"isnt the right resolution message" on the desktop.
Then i thought i would try a mini dp to dp converter and use the dp lead that came with it and was fine for a couple of days but when i 1st put my pc on it keeps going black i have to change the inputs it does this numerous times before its ok!
Try googling this loads of people have problems with display port one person with 3 of these monitors.
I have read everything from some manufactuers not producing the right spec cables to Samsung not using the right version dp!
Why have this connection if its so unreliable?
I love this monitor but this is a major drawback in my book, never have i had such problems with just trying to get a connection to work.
Its like it has a problem once in windows after it boots, Samsung or someone please produce a firmware so i can use this monitor daily that cost me £420 without having to fiddle about with the source inputs everytime!
Also surely Samsung have an R&D deparpment how did they not notice these problems? and why did they not supply a minidp to dp lead when most people using this monitor are going to be AMD GPU users and most of these cards have minidp, it baffles me.
Rant over. Ps all leads and converters tried were startech ones.

Feel the same way dude
Having the same problems with my Samsung 700d in 3D eyefinity.

Keep getting 3D syncing problems on all 3 monitors at once. I'd tried everything so purchased 2 of the £75 Startech adapters hoping it would sort it, it didn't I then started getting the Display Port Error messages and black screen non optimization error too.

AMD and Samsung need to get their act together as I read problems with this as far back as Catalyst v10.3 I think.

I'm not sure you answered when I asked on the other thread but what do you have 'auto source' set to on the setup & reset menu? Also you should be able to get the monitor to switch on by turning it off then on again, there is no need to reseat the cable.

ive had my 750d since march and had the displayport problem 3 times, oddly enough i cant remeber the last time the signal dropped out and im useing the cheapest mini displayport to displayport cable i could find, borley it could be possable you have a faulty displayport on the monitor

Hi i have it set to manual on Auto source if that what is supposed to be the best option, also if you do things different you get different results, thats whay most people probably don't have it happen as much as others, for instance if i leave my monitor on no problem, if i turn my pc on 1st then the monitor i get it happen more often.
I put this down to it sending a power signal i did read on a forum how these leads are supposed to work they can have problems if signals aren't received in the right order or something.
Also Old gamer it could be faulty but if you google it there must be a hell of a lot of faulty display ports on Samsungs it does seem to happen to most people that have it , i know i can only judge on people that have complained (thats usualy the nature of forums complaints) but i haven't had anyone in the threads i made say they have never had a problem so it seems to come across displayport isn't a very reliable port.
Also you say 3 times since March i know that doesn't seem much but we shouldn't have the problem at all, i have had 4 new monitors in around 14 years no problems at all with any other connection ,it shouldn't be acceptable for the price of these, i think they should have included dual dvi on these and you would think OCUK would contact Samsung about the problem as reading on many different forums i know people have returned theirs that have had it happen to much but i wouldn't know the percentage.
People say they even have had probs with it on Dell monitors!
I thought about getting the 950 just for dual dvi as i have that lead from my previous Samsung.
But i like the look of this monitor better.
Anyway thanks for the replies im going to due various methods on what order turning on might help or always turning it off at the socket etc

@borley.

Try setting 'auto source' to 'auto' and see if you are still having problems. On my 6950 it doesn't matter which order I turn things on in as far as I can tell, I very rarely have this issue. When I do have it simply turning the monitor off then on again fixes it - it's less hassle than unplugging the DP cable and plugging it back in.

Ok PCM2 will give it a try, it was your review that helped me set it up it looks lovely its just these port issues otherwise i would return it.

Hi again at the moment i havent had any problems with auto or manual, it seems very random what i have noticed if i turn the monitor off when im in windows then i turn it on when i do this i get the sound you get when something is disconected every time i tried this with my mini dp to dp and the mini dp to dp converter with dp lead and they both do it everytime, turn off the monitor no sound turn it on you get the disconnected sound it may be trying to display a message because when i last got "displayport failure"message i chose don't display again, any thoughts anyone elses make that noise when you turn off then on again in windows?
Update again its totaly random even on auto i just booted got past my bios splash screen then when its supposed to show my choice of windows to boot from (i have win7 on ssd and my other drive it doesnt display it i think it changes input!
Then i done a reboot of my pc to see if it repeats it as im trying to find some kind of pattern but no got to the windows choice screen fine, this is getting me stumped!
Final tests if i have it connected like i originaly did with HDMI and turn the monitor on and off i dont get the disconnected sound only with display port, tried on both my windows setups just in case it was some driver issue but same results, even tried with both leads HDMI/DP connected but the same.

Also is it true you cant get a Dual Dvi to dp adpater only the otherway round? because i have dual and single dvi on my GPU so that would be an option but can't find any.
thanks

I had this very problem on mine, along with dark patches on the screen. On top of the poor colour calibrated results, I sent it back to Samsung for a refund.

Turned out to be a very expensive, very poor monitor in my eyes. It spent a month just sat in the box, waiting to go back.

The monitor display itself on mine is great the colours are superb i think the glossy screen helps, bit like plasmas looked better than LCD as they had glossy screens. It's just the display port issues which touchwood haven't needed to touch for 2 days.

Just been browsing other site threads about display port and a lot of people have problems with Dell monitors and dp, it just beggers belief that this connection passed R&D tests! as someone wrote Displayport is supposed to be the future, what a joke.
