Is anyone else finding Google Maps and Street View very unreliable these days? I've just been trying to use the aerial view and many parts of what I could see would not load fully so were incredibly blocky. It also takes numerous attempts of dragging and dropping the little Street View man to actually get Street View to load, and sometimes it just never does (the little yellow man tends to just fly up off the top of the screen). At the minute Google Maps is just a completely black screen with only the UI elements visible (search box in top left and map controls in the bottom right). It's become an incredibly frustrating experience these days.

Does anyone else have these problems?

Many thanks

M.

I'd put money on you're using firefox.... My view is that google is nerfing performance on firefox (no proof obviously) because the same connection on the same pc is perfectly fine on chrome... go figure

I'm using Safari. I do use Firefox on my desktop PC though and it's equally as bad on that.

new google maps sucks, it takes ages to load, you have to drag/drop yellow man which you didnt have to do on the old one, on the old one you could just zoom all the way in and it'd become street view, also it throws up imagery along the bottom that i dont want/need.
seems they broke something that didnt need to be fixed

It's awful on FF, IE and Safari on both OSX and Windows, yet miraculously good on both on chrome...

It can only be because hey are nerfing it, or perhaps making it run better on chrome purposely.

Shock, horror  A Google product works better when used with another Google product, say it is not so :D

Not having any issues as the OP describes with Google Maps (on a variety of systems and browsers).

The only issue I have with Streetview is that it seems to drop you into a picture rather than roaming mode or into shops far too often. And if you are going around a city at street level which also has an underground mall is nigh on impossible as you tend to get dropped down into it at random.

Works fine for me on multiple machines in various browsers. A few people at work had issues with black screen when trying to use the Earth view rather than map or satellite but that was quickly solved with a setting change in the browsers regarding software or hardware acceleration.

Can't be any worse than Apple maps lol
