Why is Live so slow lately?

I've been noticing a lot of posts on here about people complaining of download speeds from the live service - I am also experiencing the same problem!

Anybody have any ideas as to why this is? are Microsoft still offering their Live service free to silver subscribers and thus overloading the network? :confused:

It's pretty poor when it's taken me ALL day to get to 70% for Hitman:BM :mad:

i know that it's almost certain NTL are raping live bandwidth through port restrictions, specifically port 3074 which XBLive uses.

Probably because everybody and their wee bro is trying to DL the hitman demo, as its out tomorrow.
It may even get worse when they do the managed downloads

But i am hoping since u queue 6 things it will see one is overloaded and go to a quieter one and so on.

Well I'm not actually with NTL.. I have a leased line at university, and it's fine for everything except Live for some reason.. even at like 7am the download service is absolutely dire

I wouldn't mind if I could put the download in the background like I can at the end of the month with the dashboard update, but for now it is driving me insane.

maybe the uni throttle the port?? i think there are a few guys on here at uni that cant use live, i may be wrong though
