I'm playing Borderlands 2 and I'm getting odd behaviour from the GPU

It keeps fluctuating between 25 and 97% in game causing my FPS to plummet :(

I had a similar issue to this with BF4. MSI Afterburner turned out to the culprit in my case. Uninstalling both afterburner/ rivatuner sorted out the issues I had.

so have i and in my thread it showed how my usage above 90% with BF4 running, only time it drops lower is at idle or not in games, but that last bit(not in games) is irrelevant.

what gpu is it?

if i had BL2 and not 1 i would put my card to test for comparison, but ive never played all of 1, so chances of 2 is slim lol

the nvidia experience doesnt have anything about it that could cause issues?

tbh it sounds like it could be software related or hardware, maybe try another game thats on par to BL2 and see if the same thing happens?

Just a thought but maybe you're hitting a limiter in afterburner that's then throttling the card; temp and/or power limit maybe? Enable monitoring of limits in afterburner settings and run the game, go back to AB and check the graphs to see.

Edit: just re-read, that wouldn't affect the load, have you got vsynch enabled?

Have you got PhysX setting up high?

I noticed a considerable performance dip when moving from SLI -> single card and having PhysX on the highest setting.

G-sync on your new monitor?

I have gysnc enabled yes...Think its sorted now....I went back to the same place I was getting drops after uninstalling rivatuner and afterburner

I'm getting between 80 and 120 FPS now

very odd cheers for the help...I'll report back if it goes dodgy again

Ive had this before. My culprit was an old version of afterburner or rivatuner.
Cant quite remember which but it was definatley the OSD part that was conflicting.
