Why is my grafix card so HOT?

I've never updated a bios on a graphics card before but I don't think its worth it unless its a revision 1 6950 or a gtx 480.

If you want to get you're card to perform at stock clocks but be as efficient as possible then just reduce the voltage using msi afterburner and save a profile at a stable voltage.
 
Doesn't flashing bios void warranty anyway? My cards warranty went years ago so I flashed it with optimized fan speeds for temp zones. Basically tells fan to STFU unless core reaches over 80. Idles at 49c but I don't care since it's quiet.

I wouldn't worry much about your temps unless you've overclocked. I used to set mine to 30%(whichever is inaudible) anywhere up to 50c, then it would gradually increase to 100% for 100c.
 
You dont get much cooler running cards than the 7850's. If you are comfortable with it I would take off the cooler and reapply some decent thermal paste and reseat the cooler. Should never hit 50 at idle unless you are in the sahara.
 
My card idle temps are 30/35C and under load I reach 55/61C Only game that makes My card hit 60's is Alan Wake. BF3 I hit 58/59C
This with auto fan profile and OC 1000/1400 Idle Fan speed is 20% under load it go's into 50/60%.
