Over the last week Ive noticed that anything I do on the internet takes ages. Watching streamed videos isn't possoble unless I have a couple of hours to spare, loading threads with pictures in is horrendously slow and trying to download any programs is something I can only dream of.

Ive run CCleaner and that hasn't helped at all. The computers only a month old so the Hard Drives not full or anything like that.

Is there anything else I can do?

(edit - Apart from re-installing the internetz before anyone suggests somthing equally stupid :p)

Edit 2 - *Fixes

I read this in GH it might help...

Aparently if there is a kink in your ethernet cable, the tiny packets can travel as quickly as they normally can, so best straightening it out and trying again

Line stats, including SNR and attenuation? You can get them from your router's gui, usually at:

http://192.168.1.1
http://192.168.0.1 or
http://192.168.1.254

Who are you with? What type of service is it (ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+)? Have you tried a different browser, or a different PC even? If you're with the likes of BT, Orange, AOL, Pipex or Tiscali though, don't bother with the above steps. Just migrate lol :p

Are those results bad then? I don't know what they mean :(

For example. Im currently downloading Safari as someone suggested using another browser and the transfer rate hasn't gone over 10 KB/Sec.

Last week I had no problems at all.

Yeah BT are woeful, no doubt about it. But even for them, that's poor lol Those speeds don't even qualify as broadband, so they're obliged to sort it out for you ;) If you're not in contract and have anything resembling a decent line, I'd migrate if I were you.

Im on hold to them atm. Unfortunately I still live at home with parents and they refuse to change internet provider because its easier just using BT for everything

Well... It seemed to speed up a little bit while I was on the phone to them, no its gone back to normal. Apparently Ive got to wait up to 48 hours for the faults department to contact me... Here BT, Have a big fat Rolleyes :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Could just be a temp local problem mate. Happens with all ISPs.

I know it's a bummer, but probably not the best time to contact them (it's a bit late).

Do BT have support newsgroups?

VMs support newsgroups are OK, but the employees finish at 10.00pm, maybe the same with BT?

What's a support Newsgroup? I wasn't ignoring your idea earlier on I just didn't know what it was and wanted to get on the phone incase they closed.
