why is my ram only showing as 550mhz on CPUZ?

CPUZ only shows my ram at 550mhz when its ment to be at 1333

and reason why?

could it be got them in wrong slots etc....?? :S

Because it's DDR2

So think of 550mhz being 1100mhz...

Plus, it will only be 1333mhz if you specifically set it to that.

no its ddr3 1333mhz... lol

should be anyways in bios its set to that but not any programs

Still the same guy DDR2/DDR3 still double the speed, go figure! :confused:

DDR3 showing as 550MHz in CPU-z will be running at an effective 1100MHz.

Do you not have the option to alter the frequency in your BIOS?

it wont let me change the timings can change the frequency change it to 1333 but dosent change anything

You would have to unlink your RAM with the FSB to set it to 1333mhz. Have you done this? You would also need to manually set the timings and voltage.

It's DDR RAM, so Double Data Rate. This means the RAM freq. you see in CPUZ is only half the actually frequency the RAM is running at.

ive set it to 1333 but it will not let me edit the timings and cant find an option to unlock them

its a foxconn renaissance mobo
