Why is there not a decent course fishing game for pc?

Came into the thread to have a good chuckle but its got me thinking. Imagine you can go fishing in loads of different places like Amazon, Artic Circle, Norway Fjords etc. Amazing scenic locations and you nees to sail their in your customised boat or huge fishing haulers/whaling boats, maybe even have a career modewhere you build a fishing empire. Shark attacks, storms, tsunamis. Hmm....
Robson Green's Extreme Fishing 2014. Make it happen internet.

Now imagine you could do all that and, as a bonus, there was no fishing involved. Bam, the game is immediately infinitely better :p

Throw in hovercraft, jet-skis, submarines, speedboats, ground effect planes, maybe some guns, hookers...

I love course fishing and was just looking for a sim when i came to the conclusion you did, there are none for us UK fishermen.

There are a handful of okay ones but are a completely different style of fishing due to them being set in the US, where it focus on bass and other predator fishing.

It would be cool to do a fishing campaign lol.

Like start at a river with very basic tackle and trying to catch fish to win local angling competitions earning you better tackle. Then you upgrade to national fishing competitions, where your end placement on a league determines who your sponsors are and the amount of cash you can spend on tackle for the next season!

Clearly, i would be the only one to play this game, but if others would play it...multiplayer fishing!

Years ago there was a really really basic fishing sim on PC which got updated with real locations of fisheries and popular rivers around the country. It wasn't very successful due to poor graphics and lack of control over tackle and target fish.

29 posts in and no one mentioned wii play yet? :p

There is absoulately nothing in terms of a decent course fishing game,if there was one to be created its going to need float fishing, ledger fishing, pole fishing, octoplus gear and extensions, brolleys, all the bellys and whistles you can use in real life also there would be ducks swimming around your float just like in realife etc, thats how real i want a game to be,getting snagged on weed,or not able to discorge a fish or big fish snap your line if you choose weak line length rig,i would love all this stuff animated in a 3D envirement with high shaders and lighting and realistic sounds for weather and water effects, even when you are just about to pull the fish in with either your hand or the landing net depending on the fishs size etc, i am sure a lot of people would play this game.

Dowant.

The possibilities for something like this are endless. Would you want a srscat simulation or a fun game? There are so many variables that effect fishing, talking inland coarse fishing;

The time of year (Duration of light)
Wind direction.
Air pressure.
Cloud cover or lack of.
Water temperature.
Air temperature.
The depth of the lake, canal, pond you are fishing and the contours of the lakes bottom.
The make up of the lakes bottom. Is it silty, gravely, clay. Does it have weed growth on the bottom.
Does the lake, canal, pond you are fishing have reeds, Lilly's, islands (static and floating)

What fish does the water body you are fishing contain? Different fish feed better or worse depending on the above conditions. Some prefer a group of baits (or feed) at one time of the year and want another type of feed in another. An example of this would be bread and maggots working well in winter but in summer baits like pellet and meat out fishing them for certain species. The reason for this is in winter the fishes metabolism has slowed down and they are not using anywhere near as much energy therefore they need less food to go about their business. However in summer they require much more high protein food sources to keep energy levels up after/before spawning etc.

I could go into this further but...well....whats the point haha. I guess what I am trying to say is you can make a fishing game as simple as 'hook a duck' or as complex as...erm....some micromanagement game.

I used to play FishSim2 a lot...even had a few venues created for it. Think Heyford Fishery is still around...that's my pics and input :)

There was supposed to be a new 3d Fishsim Compleat Angler I think it was called, but havent seen or heard any updates for it in ages :(

I'm the developer of Carp Fishing Simulator a realistic simulation where you can fish any time you want day or night, any time of the year with 3 rods, spod rod, marker rod, bait boat, bivvy and a whole host of other features. You can even create your own bait.

Check it out on the website here: http://www.carpfishingsimulator.co.uk ;)

my mate plays it gaz ;) carper

id love to play it but i would like a decent demo to trial it. can you catch fish in the demo or is it just to look at the game ? i play quite a few games like this and would love to try it but without a demo im not sold .

The demo is really just to test if it runs on your PC. There will be a new time limited demo where you can catch fish when the next update is released in about a week. :)
