Why is this crow doing this?

OP - do you have a pallid bust of Pallas, a pallid bust of Pallas just above your chamber door?

Maybe it wants to sit on it.

We have a crow that likes to visit, we feed him leftover cat food and whenever our snake gets fussy, Mr Crow gratefully receives a small rat or two. Needless to say he's a big boy! He'll be eyeing up the cats soon!

Meaty cat food and peanut butter are the best things to feed crows on approach to winter months. They love it, the cat-food fulfils most of its dietary requirements and the peanut butter will give the rest, including a healthy amount of fats for the winter months.

Squirrels are busy burying nuts under our lawn at the moment. About an hour later the crows come and dig them all up.

It's like some sort of daily Benny Hill sketch.

Had a jackdaw as a pet a few years ago. Beautiful and intelligent birds. It will be doing it for a reason. To crack a nut or to get bugs to come out or something can't even think of.

Not many animals out there more intelligent than corvids.

They can also recognise faces, have concept of basic numeracy and can problem some by analysing rather than trial and error.
