Why is this document 3.75 meg?

3 of you see exactly what I see HOWEVER JoeMama's picture explains a lot and I know that 14-19 pic takes up a lot of memory because the people who worked here before me didn't know how to compress.

The question is why don't you see the 14-19 bit in NORMAL mode????

I'm pretty sure there are other, maybe uncompressed, images in that document too. They maybe behind the other images:

Try opening the word file in wordpad, clicking yes to each box. Three more images open.

upload the 14-19 pic, i (or someone who beats me) will compress it.

You're missing the point.
I can't see the 14-19 pic on the document to do anything with it.
One person has posted what he sees but the other 3 see what I see.
I want to be able to click on the 14-19 pic and delete it.
On our other templates that 14-19 pic and Young Apprentice pic can be seen I can compress them.
I can't compress what I don't see.

That's even weirder.
I dragged and dropped into Wordpad and I saw what I see in Word.

I opened up the document in Wordpad and was greeted by 5 pictures that I don't see in Word and I know these are the offending pictures.

Well, i did a comparison of your document with one that I deleted everything from. I think you'll like this!....

You may have to click the image to resize it properly.

It looks like all previous revisions are still contained in the doc.

Strange how these pictures became involved with your new word document. Have you tried simply creating a new document and copy/pasting everything you see in the normal view, then saving?

I already did that at work because I had to get 2 different posters out to the Young Carers and all the cut/pasting was a pain.
The problem is that we've got a shared folder full of these old documents that are all around 7 meg in size and its these embedded invisible pictures thats doing it.
I need some quick way of removing the offending hidden pictures.
I've just acquired a more modern Word so I'll see what happens.
