There wouldn't be any posts in eh case forum, if there was a dedicated place for builds. So I've voted no. everyone knows they are in case central, so what's the issue?

they arent put only in 'case central' they are posted in all sub-forums, who cares about case central, it can be a place to just ask case questions, just like the gfx sub forum! or the memory forum

I'm not sure I see the point really.

People can already post build logs, and the interesting ones all involve modified cases which belong in Case Central.

yeah but there's far more questions you can ask than cases. How about mods start moving them all to case central. then everyone knows where they are and add it to the description.

But as said, any decent build log will have case modification, which should go in case central.

Other people may not have the same view as you though, and simply think of a build log as an account of one persons experience building a computer, case modification or no case modification. I can quite happily read a build log where there is no case modification, and I'm sure others can too, particularly if they are looking for inspiration/help. The rather long-winded point I am trying to make is that these build logs do not revolve around just the case, and the poster may feel it would be out of place in the case sub-forum.

I'm not saying otherwise

You want similar posts in the same sub-forum and not spread about over two sub-forums. As a lot include case modification, they should all be put in case central, that way there's no confusion and everyone knows where they are, regardless if they are about the case or not.

Agree 100%

not everyone looks in the case setion for build logs. Have just put a teaser of mine up in the general hardware forum, would be better if we could have a build log forum :D please!!

Build logs are not always about the case.

It's a great place to keep all the short logs on braiding or lapping or fan 7v mod's or bungee mod's to name four.

yashiro comment regarding the 'complete builds' with just the first post is an excelent idea. It would help someone browsing the logs and would give a small element of structure when the full build thread is complete.

As a side, OcUK may even consider stocking more modeling kit if it took off... its an inexpensive way to test the market.)

As a beginner, I can see me spending money on lots of 'bits' for improving my pc - small stuff maybe, but as an example, the self-adhesive cable clips, fans filter gauze or whatever it is, cable braid, even dremmel type stuff, hole saw bits etc etc - it may be a slightly niche market, but one that OcUK could build a name for, as I have no idea where to look for cable clip sticky things !
Every now and again, I would buy something bigger, so it surely would bring business to OcUK..

That is true, and if everyone knew that if they were going to write a build log the place for that was the case sub-forum, then it would be fine. However we all know how terrible people are at reading notices (not to mention people new to the forum) meaning some would end up in general hardware, creating work for the dons, when they do have enough already! :p Therefore by having a sub-forum for build logs, hopefully they would all end up there, creating less work for the dons.

Either way would work fine though, as long as there is one place where everyone knows build logs are posted.

I can see what you're saying, but it doesn't really make a lot of sense tbh.

Threads in case central should quite clearly be about the case, just as threads in motherboards are about motherboards and so on. All (most) of these things can be involved in a build log so the only real way to keep them together in an obvious way is to have a sub-forum for them.

We can all say 'lets just put build logs in case central', but what about the people who havent read this thread/new users and so on. If a new user signs up to post pics of his new build and he's modded, say, his graphics card as a main part, it would be perfectly reasonable to post this is the graphics cards sub-forum following the same logic as to post them in case central, as this was a main part of his build.

If people post build logs/mods etc and people want to read them then having a specific, obvious sub-forum for this cannot be a bad thing.

Finally (as this has turned into an essay), a quick look at case central should tell you that there would still be plenty of posts in it purely about cases.

people would quickly learn where the build logs go though.

Do people really want build logs spread over to forums?

Components just slot together, the main point of a build log, is to show off what you have and cable tidying and other such things which is certainly case related.

Just doesn't make sense to me, to have build logs split over two sub forums. what do you do, post a link in one of the sub-forums to your other post? or post two identical threads?

I'd think just post build logs and mods or whatever in the designated section. Then leave case central for purely case related questions. 'Antec P182(or P183) or Silverstone Fortress, and why ?', 'Show the lads your Silverstone cases' etc. The build-log sub forum would be for posts such as, 'Project:Boring *mini build log* pictures'.

and how about full case mod build logs?

they're build logs, so they'd go in the build log section

EDIT: you could say similar things about most sub forums. What if I want to ask about overclocking a CPU? CPUs or overclocking and cooling? Cooling a graphics card? cooling a case? common sense usually tell you tbh

there's many more posts in those forums as there's many more options and questions.

we will see OcUK do not like to create loads of sub-forums so I would be surprised if they implemented it.
