I see that most people use msi afterburner for overclocking there ATI cards,even if the card is from a different manufacturers. I have a gigabyte 7950 which comes with easy boost . What will afterburner do that easy boost wont ???

No one knows the answer because they wouldnt use anything other than MSI afterburner 
MSI Afterburner is so easy to use for voltages and overclocking, easy to set up profiles, so much graphics card monitoring available and manual fan control / profiles, plus video recording and screen capture that actually work, and its free.
I dont think theres any other overclocking software that even does 10% as much.

It just offers better control for me than others.
Tried Asus GPU tweak and Sapphire Trixx, and while they can get the job done to a degree, they just don't offer the flexibility of AB
Plus it has all the on-screen monitoring as well.

Agree with eyetrip.
I never really used afterburner until I got to my Gigabyte 7950 OC cards. It helped me squeeze a bit extra from them, as well as monitor the temps, clock speeds, fan speed etc. I had tried a few others, like Easyboost, Trixx, etc but they weren't as user friendly or offering the same kind of features for monitoring.

Downloaded and had a play,but for some reason it wont let me access voltage and shader control even though i have enabled it and restarted afterburner. I am using V2.10 ??? strange
Get the 2.20 Beta 15 from for example here
2.1 is a year old, not sure why they keep this in Beta still.
