Why no GPU without cooler models for water coolers?

Has this ever been done, selling a bare GPU so a block can be put on right away for the water cooling fraternity/me:P

Might save a bit of money or make warranty issues moot as no one has then tampered with the cooler/HSF assembly?

CPUs do this why not graphics cards?

I suspect the cooler is where a lot of the profit goes for an AIB gpu.

If they just sold you the bare chip on a pcb there doing little more than transferring the chip which they didn’t make adding ram they didn’t make and soldering them onto a board.

Maybe such a card could come direct from the manufacturer but again adding their cooler gives them a markup.

I would just buy a card and keep the cooler because it gives you a much bigger market come resale time.

Because inevitably there some noob will buy one thinking 'whoa that's cheap' doesn't bother reading the warning signs and notifications that the needs a cooler fitted, plug it straight into their PC and boot up and breaking it.
