Why no short throw 4K projectors?

I currently have the Optima 1080ST 2m away from my screen for over 100" image. Been looking for a 4k projector everywhere but nothing comes close to its throw ratio. Every 4k one needs at least 4m!!
 
This really annoys me as well. I have a BenQ W1080ST as we put it on a low table between the seating position and viewing wall.

When I bought the projector a few years ago there was a very limited choice in short throw models.

It's a shame to see there doesn't appear to be a 4K model available.
 
I,m still using my trusty Optoma GT760 short throw which has been really awesome for me, i only have a small living room and if they did a 4k version i'd be all over it. There are some ultra short throws out there but they are very pricey.
I may even go for a 75" LG tv next instead of another projector.

They are available, if you have the money. Dell do the S718QL for £4400, for instance.
 
I have an Optima LED short throw, it gives off very little heat with low fan noise compared to the other types. Due to how our room is situated I have to put it on a low tripod, it's sound output however is rubbish so I end up with wires going everywhere with a mains power in, a 5mtr HDMI to connect to the NOWTV box which also has Netflix & terrestrial channels, another lead to the sound system which is near where I sit as I'm rather deaf. It's a fiddle to set it up compared to the long throw types you can fit on a shelf and leave it there

Thanks for that, I'll take a look Although at that price I think I'm better off waiting. I'm sure more short throw models will become available.

Sounds like my setup. The projector just comes out to watch films with the inevitable trip hazard trail of wires back to the AV cabinet.
 
I'm very surprised there's not a huge gap in the market, a lot of people with 1080p projectors are looking at their TV friends with envy!

I have seen that one about but crazy prices for it! Not sure if it supports HLG either, that streaming format is important to me because I'm one of the unlucky ones with my 2015 Samsung TV that doesn't support HLG so watching the World Cup last year in UHD had to be done on a roku stick. Even then I wasn't sure if I was getting all the correct colour gamut.

Fingers crossed the BenQ W2700 will tick all the boxes and with a decent price range.
 
Unfortunately both the Optima 4K550St and BenQ W2700 is rubbish for gaming, with over 50ms and 80ms input lag. I guess the LG HU85L will be similar to the LG HU80KA, which has over 90ms input lag. I won't be playing FPS, but flight sim games.

Are there any decent 4k short throw projectors available on the market in the UK yet that will work for gaming and movies?

I'm moving house soon (hopefully anyway!) and really like the idea of getting a short throw projector for a cinema room :) However I would want to use it for gaming and films and the input lag issue mentioned above seems to have killed this idea in terms of gaming :(

Am I overthinking this? I wouldn't be playing FPS games. It's more likely to be a mix of Switch/PC games such as Mario Kart, Witcher 3, Zelda RDR2 etc. Would the input lag be an issue here?

https://www.optoma.co.uk/product-details/uhd30 is more for gaming if the throw range is short enough for you.
