After switching to Mac last year - i fired up Origin and Mac recently.

My Origin Library - 2 games playable out of 20 - 10%.



My Steam Library 137 games playable out of 300 45.6%

 
While I do agree that Steam is king of online games retailers and downloadable games content. I think that Origin has come along way in a short space of time. As I dont think that EA really took it seriously untill recently...

Origin and Uplay are actually not that bad, I do find the security breaches at Uplay a concern but as they were the most recent to have them the chances are they're now the most secure, especially if it hurt them in the pocket.

I don't personally think there's much between them, Steam for me wins more on the community side than the games it offers.

They launched the Mac version of origin over a year ago but really other than the Sims and Sim City and the expansion packs there is still very little that is converted, its a poor show really.
 
Surely that's down to the game developers. This is why I'm guessing that Steam must have an extra layer for compatibility. I'm only guessing though because it wouldn't make sense for the game not to work on Origin..??
 
Origin sells Mass Effect and usually in cheaper/better packages than Steam. That's the only reason I have it installed.
I bought Assassins Creed off Steam and it required U-Play for authentication. That's the only reason I have that installed.

Given how often each sends me email offers and newsletters, compared to how often any of them are of interest, Steam and its features get far more use out of me than the other two.
Nothing particularly wrong with them, that I've found, I just like Steam better.

Nope, it's solely down to the developer to release Mac versions, Steam has no influence.

I think the point really is why bother to have a Mac version of origin for a handful of games, they made you download it solely for playing Sim City, but EA have not had any other games released on the system I think other than Rayman Origins since then.

Waste of everyone's time.

EA forcing **** down consumers throats always leaves a nasty taste with the majority of gamers.

I'm not surprised EA do not support MAC, I mean they hardly support the PC platform.
 
I still don't understand why neither Steam or Origin open/launch maximised and never seem to do so properly.

I also hate the fact Origin opens whenever you launch a game.
 
EA pfftt can they explain why my perfectly stable 25MB broadband disconnects from FIFA at least once every 20 mins.

Same connection that is rock solid with every game apart from games with EA servers.

Looking at you Battlefield series.
 
Uplay has been awful last 4 evenings. As soon as it gets to a busy time you cant log into their servers. Okay you can use offline mode but if you play Assassins Creed 4 you can't use Kenway's fleet when you are not logged in.
I've seen several comments on Uplay Facebook about it only to see them disappear within an hour.

now now this about PC digital distribution not Mac baiting !

I think Origin has improved as I have not had as many problems. Steam is still king with Uplay dragging its heels.
