Why save your msn chat history?

If you wanted them to be admissable in court you could always burn them to write-once CD. Of course its only circumstantial as they could have been edited, but at least they know that they haven't been since they were burnt.

Although I do sometimes wish I could look back on past convos!

Hmmm.

I've been saving my convos since the start of 2004, got about 100mb worth of xml files.. They are really handy for recalling links, just looking back on good memories and also for ammunition against ex. girlfriends or to prove a point etc. very handy and very worth having in my opinion.

Having said that they can be upsetting! I have everything me and my ex said over 1 year and 6 months and all the arguments after etc and once i start reading its too easy to keep reading and it just upsets me. I dont want to delete them though, i hate myself for deleting the 300 or so emails from her.

(I know, I can't move on.. its been like 7 months  I'm working on it!)

i don't store them, don't really see the point, keep all my emails though. Never really have any significant conversations on messenger

texts for some reason i keep, but thats more to do with me not being bothered to delete them, and my phone being able to store thousands.

Why wouldn't they stand up in court? I thought they also got stored on a MS database of some sort?
Have you any idea how much data that would be??

Hi people,
Afew years ago I was accused of sening abusive texts for a girl even thought it wasnt me.

So after that I started saving texts and only deleting when there was no space. I also started saving my MSN Chat history.

But I have recently been thinking, if it ever happened to me again would my MSN Chat history stan up in court? or would the police just not believe it as it can easily been changed?

If it would stand upin court what is the point of been able to save your history?

Doubt it, i'm sure a MSN log can easily be faked.

the files will have a last opened / edited date wouldnt they?

so if you burn them to CD end of each month say, or something?

Personally i save every text i receive, got every text sent to my phone since october 2005 - msn tho i dont

my main reason for saving it is because I chat to so many people from all over the world its hard to keep track of who's who :D so it always helps as a refresher to avoid embarassing moments :p

As for texts and stuff......well.......dug out an old mobile tonight and found loads of old texts on it from like 2002 :D and found 91 texts in a hidden folder form the ex :p lol Normally try not to delete stuff

The files are saved every time you close the conversation window.

The date on a file can also easily be faked by changing the clock on your computer..

They would never hold up in court.
