Hey guys,

I am in the laptop market and i have around a £1000 budget however that can be extended if i feel the absolute need for it. And I am looking at a 15" Macbook Pro however I'm not sure whether or not I can justify the price for the (IMO) fairly average hardware for the price. I'm thinking that I can get a awful lot more for my price if I look at a PC laptop. I am planning on using this laptop for school work and also some photo editing i.e Photoshop. I am wondering why I would go and spend that much more money to have the mac?

If you really like Mac OS X.
If there are Mac-only programs you'd like to run.
If you like the material/build quality of the MBP enough to spend more money.

I do like MAC OS X
However I cannot think of any mac-only software that I really want to use specifically.
I do like the MBP quality etc etc

Hmmmmmm

Well if you're using it for photo editing it might be worth taking a look at Aperture. See if they will help with your workflow over Photoshop.

Apart from that the extra price is just down to build quality, support and a good screen.

I like the look of Apeture and I have heard good things about Apple support. Hmm i will most certainly think about mac

The user experience of OSX and the build quality of the MBP's are worth paying the extra for, unless you want to do gaming in which case Apple is a definate no-no in my opinon.

I use a Macbook (13" alu, 2ghz, 4gb ddr3) and games run perfectly well with Boot Camp. The 9400m is surprisingly good. Bioshock on the highest settings with a fairly high resolution (1024x768 I think) runs perfectly well.

the build quality is the best i have seen, this and the fact that it is one of the best 13'' laptops is the reason i got mine. i came to the conclusion i would still want one if it ment i had to use windoes on it and not os x, but am really likeing os x atm and dont regret getting a mbp one bit :), i do however think about the power of the top of the range 15" but aways relise it is pointles for my use as i have a pc for games.

If you want one, buy one. I'd say the same if you were contemplating a PC purchase.

Each person has their own reasons for wanting a certain item or product. However if you are needing a specific configuration my advice is go to an Apple store or Apple reseller and try them out for a few hours. If you like it, buy it.

What happened to my post? I hope people knew it was tongue-in-cheek.

Reasons for getting a Mac - the user experience from start to finish.

Macs are pretty much identical to PCs now with regard to hardware and working capability. You can do the same things equally well on either platform.

However, like so much in life, it's not just about what you can do, it's the way that you do it.

You quoted a deleted post, so it was probably removed.

This is why people buy macs because post on making logical decisions gets deleted lol

I RTM'd your post(s). The mods thought your post(s) were trolling so they removed them.

I wasn't :(

I think macs are good at what they're designed for but people buy them for the wrong reasons which is why I said to the OP to think before he buys. We have a few uses who sware by them but have no idea how to use them and are now having to be bottle fed.

I love the way this debate is going, you guys do make me laugh. And I agree that I should just buy one if I want one. but i can't help thinking I would be getting ripped off by buying a mac and that i should be looking at brands like acer for better value for money
