• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Why so cheap? 6950XT

how have you found your 4080 vs 7900xt? Presumably smoother in that game you play often? I suppose also a bit more polished in drivers and easier to overclock with AB.

Have you got rid of your XT on MM?

Which everyone argues also applies to the 7900xt (15% faster)

Not everyone, no.

The 7900XT uses a different GPU to the 6900XT, on a different process, with different numbers of...well, pretty much everything that's in a GPU. It has a differently sized memory bus. They're different cards.
The 6950XT uses the same GPU as the 6900XT. Absolutely identical, both in terms of the chip itself and in terms of what's enabled on it. Same memory bus. The only hardware difference is the use of 18Gbps GDDR6 rather than 16GBps GDDR6. It's the same tech as the 6900XT from 2020, just very lightly tuned up. Very slightly higher clocks, very slightly higher power limit.

Either get this (6950xt) or wait for the 7800xt with probably same performance and better power draw.

Maybe, maybe not. We don't know the specs of the 7800XT. We don't know when it will be released. We don't even know if it will really be released (as opposed to a mostly paper release with a handful of cards). If AMD thought it was good and useful to them they would have released it already. AMD obviously don't like their own 7800XT. That's not a good sign. I think it's because AMD chose to call the actual 7800XT the 7900XT so they could inflate the price, leaving them without a product to properly fit the 7800XT name.

How much would a 7800xt aka 7900xt actually have been? £599-£649 so they charged £300 more- I think the mindshare has shifted away from AMD back into Nvidias hands due to this poor marketing.
