Why So Expensive?

Why is the Ryzen 7 5800x3d so expensive at £320.
Go for the 5700X3D, much cheaper and hardly any difference between the 2.

AMD has discontinued the 5800X3D so this could be the cause of the prices going up

The 5700X3D is currently £169.99 from OCUK, the 5800X3D is currently out of stock so unsure if this will ever come back in stock again

Yeh, EOL product, if you really want it, you will have to pay for it, they prefer you buy the next gen and spend more money on that.

On a budget so was reading older am4 gaming pc builds. In the hope of offsetting the cost so I could afford a better graphic card. Been benchmarking prices a lot.

EOL products are always expensive, if you a replacement part it's cheaper to buy a new 5800X3D then to buy a brand new system.

For consumers consumers and enthusiasts I would recommend getting a 2nd hand one, you can't overclock them so they should all be stable and work like new.

I see, best for gaming?
Depends on platform, Any of the X3D chips are the best for whatever platform you are on and your budget

Looking on OCUK the 5700X3D is back to £210 from £170 which it was recently but I assume this is going up in price due to the 5800X3D being EOL and this is the best gaming CPU on AM4

Depends what you can spend.
5700X 3D is better than 5800X and 5950X for gaming and is best (apart from 5800X 3D) gaming CPU on AM4. I'm asking for a friend on AM4 but its pretty obvious that regardless of the 'value' of the 5950X etc the X3D chips are fastest for gaming. I'm on AM5 with a 7800X3D so it's a moot point for me.

It’s not as simple as that as the performance depends on the game and other hardware choices.

The 5800/5950X at current prices are pretty difficult to ignore.

Which am5 is on same level as the 5700x3d. Just curious.
There is only about a 5% performance difference at most between the 5700X3D and the 5800X3D and the 5700X3D runs much cooler and uses even less power.

If I wanted AM4 X3D today I'd get the 5700X3D without question.
