Why so many owners? Help!

oh yea i know but thats the practise isnt it, trader sells the car and does an mot before hand

was looking at a car a while ago that had an oil leak on a previous mot, trader re mot'd it, i asked why it wasnt there anymore and trader couldnt explain it, sale promptly cancelled.
Things like that can also be down to the tester. I've had a "CV boot severely deteriorated" or similar on 2 of my past MOTs both done at the same place.

I've also had it checked by 2 dealers while in for a service who said there was a small amount of grease on the outside of the boot but no visible damage and then a completely clean MOT from another MOT station. Other than the boot being wiped when it's been checked by the dealers there's been no work done to it.

An oil leak on an MOT could be nothing more than the tester spotting a bit of oily residue and noting it down, give it a wipe and no more oil leak.
