Why wont my car sell?

Better location for photos, replace missing rear towing eye cover and (without wishing to offend) one tyre having a chunk missing, 'lady owner' and 'refurbished' will be summed as 'driven into numerous kerbs, tracking buggered'.

Also overpriced based on other similar private sales on AT.

The gigantic chunk of missing tyre sidewall doesn't exactly scream "careful owner" either.

Although it does tie in nicely with "lady owner", which really isn't a selling point.

Finally, don't assume optional extras add much (if anything) to the value.

I'd say drop it under 7 to 6995. There are a lot of golf GTIs within 40 miles of you which means you need to stand out more.

Been serviced more than the book but yeh do agree that cosmetically its not perfect.

Serviced more than the book? What does that even mean?

It's clearly not been looked after properly, otherwise why would a huge chunk of tyre be missing, and the wheels have needed a refurb?

You can't go expecting top end money for a car that by your own reckoning isn't cosmetically (the first thing a buyer will care about) perfect.

It's overpriced, potentially by quite an amount.

By that I mean serviced every 6 months. Garage said its got no rust underneath as its been garaged. No offence but I know my car and although your right in that it did have a refurbed alloys and there is a chunk out of the tyre, that tyre has never been punctured. Also its been warmed up and cooled down properly and washed regularly, no one is perfect.

Yes I agree, what price do you think is right then?

Problem is the general buying public can pickup a reasonable spec 2008 Golf with that kind of mileage for around £2K less - those that would pay that kind of money for the specific spec are going to be fewer and further between and from a quick look around generally similar spec/mileage sold at around 5.9-6.2K.

No one interested in a candy white one? 3 door? :p

In all honesty I might just keep it, I love her to bits but cant justify her with the mileage being done.

I agree it's overpriced, but you can't say a car hasn't been looked after because the wheels have been refurbed, if anything it shows the car has been looked after because they care about the appearance enough to spend money on it.

Surely pretty much any car more than a few years old is going to have had wheel damage at some point - even if you're the best driver in the world, there's still potholes/people pulling out and forcing you into kerbs etc.

When people say it's too much, do they actually look at the prices of similar cars? 8k is about the going rate for an 08 plate GTI with lower mileage privately so 7k isn't unreasonable, dealers asking 8.5k and if it's an ED30 you're looking at 10k.

Yep as others have said too expensive and there are tons of similar models for sub 7k in your area.

At minimum drop it to 6995 so you show up in searches where people specify a max price of 7k. Though realistically you'd probably get more interest at the 6500 mark.
