Hi.
Ive had the same problem on two Vista64 based systems now, and ive been unable to solve it.

I goto install VMWare server, it gets 90% of the way through the installation, then just starts 'rolling back' as if somethings incompatible.

Any ideas?

well it runs like a dog on vista32 so i'm not surprised to see it not working at all on x64. does it mention vista compatibility anywhere?

it's about time vmware released a new version based on workstation 6. i think vmware server is based on workstation5. :)

i now use virtualbox on vista, pretty sure it works with x64 too.

Use virtualbox its a lot better imo and its free.

VMware server is also free, its the workstation product that costs money.
I have workstation 6 installed on vista 64 & vmware server installed on 2003 server 64bit, dont remember having any issues installing either of them.

Having a play with Virtualbox, cant be bothered messing with VMware if ive gotta disable some pretty importent security stuff in Vista.

Had a quick play with Virtualbox. Quite impressed thus far.

Whats the difference between all the VM programs speed wise? Or are they all much of a muchness?

##EDIT''
And why it is that, yet again, that i cant install Ubuntu in a VM?
MS VM crashes early in the boot, VirtualBox wont let me create partitions on the virtual disk!?
Do VM programs just not work with Ubuntu or something?

I'm running a pair of Ubuntu VM's in VMWare in x64 Vista without any problems.

Ive never been able to virtualise it for some reason.
Tryed virtualising the 7.04 32bit version on my old XP system, a server 2003 system at work, my laptop runnng Vista32, and my current system running Vista64.

All have given me errors or problems preventing me from installing Ubuntu in a VM. Very odd.:(.
