why would a sound card cause a no VGA bios warning?

Been running a D2 in my system for a month or so without issue.
Rebuilt rig last night in a new case and when ever D2 is in a PCI slot (tried different ones) I get the 'no VGA' error beeps.

With out the D2 all is well, loads into windows can OC via the bios - run programes/R@H/Spi without issue.

Drop the D2 back in and it's BEEP, beep-beep-beep :(
D2 lights up, HHD/fans spin up, optical works, but display stays on standby.

Not tried the D2 in another pc so can't rule if it's damages (can't see how)
but even if it was - why would that affect the 8500GT?

Anyone else had this happen - or might know why?

P5Q - E8200 - 8500GT - D2 - S80B (air cooled currently)

Ah. No, I can't help. Was going to go with pci-e soundcard causing the board to run out of available pci-e lanes, which decided to turn the gfx off instead of the soundcard. That was a long shot even before you said pci

I fear you're going to need to try the card in a different pc, and if it works I think your list of suspects is down to motherboard :(

Odd thing is it was working fine an hour before - the case was the only thing that changed and adding one fan to a mobo header.
Must be someting in bios or something is not connecting right - will have a play over the weekend (express gate maybe)

Shorted something out in the new case? I now it's a pain but try it with the mobo out of the case just to discount it.
