Seriously WTF is the matter with people?

I've just popped out to take advantage of the nice day and give the car a wash only to discover..

damage.jpg

It clips into position quite firmly but can be pulled off, with a put of effort, for cleaning purposes and suchlike.

WHY would you remove it? What would you even do with it after? Why can't people just get lost?

Must have happened in town yesterday, it was dark when I got back into the car so I didnt notice it.

So annoyed. Seems the part ALONE is £60, plus painting on top of that.

:( :(

That sucks. Some people are just ****wits I guess

Hopefully not to expensive/hard to sort? Although thats not the point, I realise...

Edit: Just read, £60. Jeez :(

Could you not get one from the scrappies? Afterall, you don't buy NEW do you? ;)

If anyone knows of a scrappy breaking a silver E39 5 Series please let me know. It's my preffered option.

Its because there is scum on our streets Fox.
You cant mitigate for such cretins that do petty vandalism aside from wiring the shell of your car up to a big battery...Mmm Crispy tealeaf.

That's the trouble with having a decent car in this country - it attracts the attention of mindless vandals.

yep, only have one if you plan on garageing it and never stopping anywhere, ever!! A friends car got keyed the other night! you just can't comprehend the stupidity!

I can afford a nice car but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night with it parked on the street and in public places so I drive an old cheap car out of choice. What a country.

What *******.
People that do this kind of crap really **** me off.
Where i live is the walk route home from town and about twice a week a few wing mirrors are kicked off.
New years day i picked up the plastic bit off the back of a wing mirror and placed it where it would be safe and seen by the owner. I did notice today that they have clipped it back on ok but still what a bunch of weak ******* to go round kicking cars.
I always listen out to try and catch them but of course it is always in the early hours or when knowone is about.
******* ******* the lot of 'em.

I'd be more inclined to say that was the work of someone who actually knew what they were doing and stole it for use on their own car.

Doesn't seem to be the luckiest of cars does it.

Gotta be the work of someone specifically after one surely?

Why the **** would anybody else take off a random bit of trim from a car like that? It reminds me of when my Dad's wing mirror was pulled off and left on the roof. An elderly neighbour told us how a fat middle aged man and walked past and punched it off, picked it up, placed it on the roof and walked on. God knows why. Just a mentality of "I see summat that I wanna wreck so I'll do it, sod whoever it actually belongs to."

Agreed, some drunk idiot isn't going to go for an obscure part on the roof, its nearly always a wing mirror or a panel every time.

Seems some BMW owner who has lost/damaged his, has done you over

Never would have happened in the Honda community I tell ya (Poor joke, I admit it)

Unlucky fella, its **** when you cant have anything decent without some moron nicking/vandalising it.

One of the reasons I didnt get a 5 Series or E Class was because it wouldnt fit in my garage. Even though I live in a nice area the amount of mindless keying etc just means its inevitable that a car left on our street will at some point get damaged. This means I have to have a car less than 470cm long, otherwise I just wouldnt sleep at night :(

ARGH!!!! - people like that should have their genitals put in a vice..!!!

If you think it happened in town - Would it be worth checking for any CCTV.
