Why?

Why keep the plate though? Surely if you're changing car to a normal 5 series and have a plate saying M5 you're just going to look like a ****er wishing they had an M5 to most people.

Why change it? It's really hard these days to buy a new single number plate anyway as most of them are gone, he has his initials on it and 99% of people wont link M5 and a particular model of BMW.

My plate starts S2 and I don't drive an Audi S2. OH NO!

Why would you want to be out pottering along on a bit of NSL on a saturday, surely if you're into the whole performance car thing you're into speed? Not doing 5-10mph under the limit like some old woman?

What if he wasn't in the mood?

Sometimes I like to potter along in comfort. Sometimes I like to wring every last bhp out of my engine. Depends on my mood.

And I misread it then, looked like a 530d badge but then again i've been told i need glasses more than once.

because such a plate could cost in the '000's?

More of an investment??

It doesn't suit at all! I mean the kit itself does actually look quite nice but does not suit that car one bit! The 5 isn't the best looking car as it is so surely if you were going to mod it you'd try to make it look nicer... not worse.

So have I, but generally not on cars that were pretty decent to start with and not on fairly new premium cars. A car designed for the monied barry boy.
I read an advert for fitting full body kits to Aston Martins and Bentley, cheap £4k kits that looked virtually the same as the originals but with stupid slits and **** in. Made me wonder who would buy such a beautiful, prestigious car and then customize in such a hideous way... but I suppose like many have already said "each to their own".

Damn those Asians with daddy's money. Must have been proceeds from terrorism or something!
Think before you post.

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

I heard all this shouting my name from Hardware forum I just had to come look see......and die at the sight of that "body kit".

So you drive like a total **** and you have eyesight so poor it needs correction yet you don't wear glasses.

Remind me to stay out of your way.

The bloke in the BMW was probably wetting himself laughing at some young idiot in a tatty old Golf trying his hardest to overtake.

I don't need glasses, everyone says I should get my eyes checked but it's just for reading small stuff, don't need them for driving.

I don't really care what some **** in a 5 series trying to tell the world he has an M5 says. If you're going to spend a load of money on a car at least drive it properly, it's not exactly going to stress the car to do the 60mph limit.

And I wasn't exactly trying hard tbh.

Who wants to race their car around 100% of the time? Not all of us are mental boy racers like you. You sound really bitter too, I don't really understand why you get so angry.

Welcome to world of 'I got this car because I can'.

I've seen plenty of M3's, M5's, Ferrari's, Lambo's etc... on the roads and most have been pottering along. Why? Who knows and who cares, except that when I see them I do momentarily think that if I owned it I'd be gunning it but as an owner gunning it 24/7 on public roads must eventually get boring.

As Fox has stated you can't always drive around like your arse is on fire, I sometimes potter along and on other days drive like a complete arse-hole, really depends on my mood, the music I've got playing and other road users around me.

I vote for a username change to "I get angry".

TBH I rarely, if ever, get angry behind the wheel. I will get perplexed at the standard of driving of the car in front usually but nothing really more than that - heck I beeped my horn for the first time ever last week when a Rav 4 almost sideswiped me :p

Dont think it looks bad at all, quite a nice job actually. Although it is a bit too 'finny' for me, would rather it was smoothed out a bit more :)

Becuase he's trying to be flashy.
I saw a 530d with "M5 BEX" on the plate the other day. I thought, if you're going to try and pretend you have an M5 at least debadge.
The idiot was pottering along at 50 - 55mph on a nice stretch of NSL as well, didn't even want to drive it fast, I was like, no, foot down. And you've just been taken by a 1.4 golf, how do you feel.

Maybe one day, while you're showing the 300bhp V8's 'How It's Really Done', you'll plant youself head first into a tree. Poor Tree.

Surely if you've got a 300bhp v8 doing the speed limit isn't that difficult?
If I can manage to do it in a 1.4 golf it should present no problems to cars with big engines.

I'm SO sorry if I suffer from roadrage. Not.
