....Do they keep filling the outside 'overtaking' lane up hills on single carriageway A roads with hatch markings? They've done it just outside of Lyme Regis on the A35. Utterly ridiculous and seems to serve no purpose.

Sure you can legally overtake in them but nobody does so if you do, you are the first car on that bit of road for at least a week and you will be killed to death by 4 consecutive blowouts as all the rubbish and crap that accumulates on unused tarmac penetrates your tyres.

So you must sit behind the idiot in the 59 plate Hyundai instead.

ITS A CONSPIRACY

DEAR HIGHWAYS AGENCY/COUNCIL/WHOEVER

Leave them alone. Overtaking lanes on hills are a lifeline.

Love,

Fox

You forgot the kiss at the end, they wont listen now. :(:D

One of my customers said to me yesterday -

"Leon, this woman is going to stab me in the FACE if her parcel doesn't get delivered tomorrow"

It didn't get delivered.

It's Richard Gray's fault. We all knew he was going to crash in style sooner or later, nearly collected me while trying to do a handbrake turn outside Windermere station. And he goes and kills himself using the overtaking lane at Bannerig, now the whole road has a 50mph limit and hatchings. What a prat!

To warn people that it's a potentially dangerous place to overtake, and to remind them that they should be extremely careful when doing so in that location. What's not to understand? You should be angry at the people that do not understand this, such as yourself, rather than the people trying to improve road safety by placing them there.

Because road safety policy has completely damaged people's ability to understand risk... As evidenced by Robbie G's post above.

No, people's inability to understand risk has damaged people's ability to understand risk.

A35 just outside Lyme Regis, I presume he means:

Obviously a fairly dangerous place to overtake, and people thinking 'ooh hatched markers' will at least reduce the incidents of overtaking-related collisions, even if it means that people in big fast cars can't get past the plebs in 59 plate Hyundais.

heres whats happening

1) Chavs have been interbreeding for several generations
2) The nations IQ is diminishing
3) The gene pool is also being diminished
4) The nations average driver IQ is 10 points below what it was in 1990
5) These people are out buying Hyundais, they cannot drive, due to being full weight retards forced to wear velcro trainers as tying laces gives them headaches
6) The "authorities" dumb down the roads for all of us to accomodate aforementioned **** faces

Remember this

"In the land of the retarded, the man with the NVQ in Metal Work is King."
