Widen my horizons

It's not meh, it's just a bit different :p

Exactly, it's different to Origin Of Symmetry in that with O.O.S they tried to make it sound live - which is what they do best. Infact scrap all those albums and just get the live Hullabaloo DVD.

You seem to quite like poppy/catchy rock type stuff, so from my collection I'd recommend Everclear, Sparta (and perhaps some At The Drive In), Audiovent, Rival Schools, and you'd probably like Hundred Reasons and Hell Is For Heroes (although I can't stand either of them).

hehe, i cant think of a group of bands that you'd like less than the ones in the OP. i see what you're trying to do here though! i'd agree with all of those (except Audiovent...never been able to get into them) and add (or reiterate)

Head Automatica
Pure Reason Revolution
Jimmy Eat World
mono - best post rock band ever, despite what Carzy thinks
Eve6
Bedouin Soundclash
The Superband

accurate

Mono just don't cut it when compared to Explosions In The Sky I'm afraid. They are damn damn good though. The new album is growing on me too. I like.

Just a few... Midtown, Tokyo Rose, Cartel, The Juliana Theory, Hit The Lights, The Faint, Mae, Just Surrender, dredg, Jacks Mannequin, The Servant, Danko Jones

While we're at it, someone give me some standout Sunny Day Real Estate tracks?
Forgot about them. I don't really know which tracks are which as I'm not that familiar with their albums, I'm just a casual listener but Diary and The Rising Tide are both very good albums.

How about the appleseed cast, no one has mentioned them yet. Best albums are the low level owl albums (vol 1 and 2). I'll second a few of the other suggestions...

Dredg
Desaparacidos
Bright Eyes (Will he ever learn that he doesn't need to release every song he writes?)
Brand New (only the 2nd album, Deja Entendu. The 1st album has lyrics that make busted look good)
The Get up Kids

Creeper Lagoon aren't bad either.
