Hey guys,
Does anyone know of any software that'll insert black bars down the sides of my widescreen monitor, rather than stretching the game.
I'm trying to play max payne 2, but it's stretching the image :(
I have a HannsG 19" widescreen and an ATI x1800xt
Cheers,
JamFace

ok... sorry if this sounds pretty stupid, but i can't find the option in the ati control center, and i downloaded powerstrip, but can't work out how to make it put bars at the sides :(

can i just ask does any graphics card allow to use widescreen? or only the newer ones? if so what ones

It is there in the drivers somewhere, my laptop is widescreen with an X1600 and I set it to keep the aspect ratio (black bars).

Install the HannsG driver from their website and select 1440 x 900 res in game. Tried that? If MP doesn't list your res then making sure Windows has the correct driver may help.

I tried setting max payne to 1440x900 which is the native resolution of the monitor, but it still appears stretched, looks the same as when it's set to 1024x768 :(
Downloaded the driver from hannsg too, but it just contains an inf file, which i don't know what to do with...

Ah, if you can already select that res that's it I thought. If it looks stretched then MP doesn't recognise it as a widescreen aspect. Don't think there's anything you can do?

to install the .inf, right-click desktop>properties>settings>advanced settings>monitor>properties>update driver>manually choose driver>choose .inf file. Or something like that :)
