'The Widescreen Mod allows Planescape:Torment, Baldur's Gate: Tales of the sword Coast, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter and Icewind Dale II to be played at previously unsupported resolutions, like those of widescreen monitors. The project is currently an open beta, and only some engine variants are supported, those these will expand in future releases.'

Just a headsup for anyone who fancies revisiting some classic pc rpgs, or for those who missed them first time round. This mod is nothing short of fantastic!

I knew quality of writing, dialogue and depth in rpgs had taken a back seat to gfx in recent years (*looks at Oblivion*), but had completely forgotten by how much! Planescape Torment still puts anything current to shame, and now it looks lovely too :)

Next stop, Throne of Baal!

This is great. Im working my way through IWD and BG on my laptop, as soon as i get to IWD2 and BG2 ill be using this mod.

I just did a quick search for Planscape Torment and couldnt find it under £30!

I remember a few years ago it was in the £4.99 range in the shops.

If anyone knows where i can get it for £4.99 email in trust.

I'm betting on it arriving at gog.com within a couple of months, they're adding tons of titles and Planescape is constantly requested :)

Yeah, I've been looking to get Planescape as well, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to get it without paying way over the odds at the moment. I'll keep an eye on that site.

I've played the BG games through several times... hmm I guess I could do one more with the widescreen :)

I got a bargin from the jungle a year ago.
NWN + all expantions
BG + Expansion
BG2 + Expansion
IWD + Expansion
IWD2

All for £15 in one box set. Great games for the ancient laptop.

The temple of Elemental evil is still one of my fav's, its so very Forgotten realms, the music helps it along no end. Of course its as buggy as work at xmas time, but can be patched.

I'm playing Planescape:Torment again - downloaded that widescreen patch last week, very handy :)

Accidentally installed an annoying mod that's turned Mort into a pumpkin, though :/

Thanks for posting but that widscreen mod has problems with image aligning. if used in conjunction with Ghostdogs UI mod it will fix this. Please have a look at this topic I recently started:

Nice one - i'll check that out :)

Do you know if there's a way to get the ghost mod working with a higher res? At the moment i've got Planescape at 1680*1050. The menus and text are too tiny, but the rest looks lovely. I was playing it at 2304x1440 just out of interest and the characters look like little ants walking about :)

You're right, it's surprising how good everything looks at them high resolutions. However, ghostdog has said it's not really possible to have anything above 1280 x 1024 ( or x 800 widescreen) working with his UI mod, i don't know if this will change in future (see here; http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?showtopic=38188).

I've recently purchased a 20" widescreen and running at 1280x800, I also installed the optional 30% bigger fonts which is included in the UI mod and it works really well.

Managed to pick up a copy of Planescape today, and i cant wait to get back into it. I remember a fondly a few nights when it first came out and for some reason i never went back to it.

Ill give this a whirl.

This looks great! I think i sold my copy of planescape though :( and i lost my copy of bg 1 however i still have bg2 and expansions on my shelf :)

I have BG2 and expansion which I am going to install tonight. I have a few new RPG's which I have to finish but I would love to play something again with the depth that these games provided.

I am a self confessed graphics who.....re but I am starting to come to the conclusion that RPG's have regressed with event of full 3d engines.

The widescreen mod messes up IWD2 a little, the text boxes end up being massive and covering most of the viewable area. Have to pause and wait for it to go if it happens during fights. Disgressing a little bit, Drakensang is the closest i've come to this sort of game in recent years plus looks bloody lovely.

Does anyone know if BG works with Vista x64? I highly doubt it, but miss the game terribly!
