I have been looking all over the internet to find information about the problem with my hard drive and i cant find anything :(

Every time i plug the power into the hard drive it will turn on for about 2 seconds then turn itself off, then after about 1 second it will turn back on and turn off again after 2 seconds, and it will keep doing it until i unplug it.

When it is connected through a SATA cable to the motherboard the computer will freeze instantly.

PLEASE TELL ME WHATS WRONG!

Thanks

Welcome to the forums :)

Sounds like the power connector you're using might be bad. Have you tried another connector for power? I'd also try another data connector too.

I tried it on a different power supply on a different motherboard and it still does the same thing, do you think i may have broken the connection between the power slot and the hard drive board?

Possibly, check for signs of damage.

Beyond that, sounds like it's faulty, if it's in warranty get an RMA, otherwise cut your losses and move on. How old is the drive and which drive is it?

Well i sent it off to the people who i bought it from and theyre sending me a replacement and it was under a year old. It a Seagate Barrcuda.

When i switched it on with it attached it would just keep searching for it, then after it stopped that and went into windows it would crash again :(

Do you think there is any way of getting my data back?
