I have a 160GB IDE Seagate that I kept in an IcyBox USB enclosure, as I couldn't fit it in my Tsunami case. Now I have finally got my hands on my new MountainMods U2-UFO, I have plenty of room for it inside, so I popped it in alongside my two 200GB WD SATA drives.
I currently have Vista RC2 and XP on dual boot on one of my WD SATA drives, and this has been working fine with the Seagate in the IcyBox. Before I booted up, I ensured that it was third priority in hard drive boot order, so as not to cause any problems.
Vista works fine with this setup, but when I try to go into XP, I get an error message about a missing file which I think is something like hal32.dll (I'm at work so can't check).
I have double checked, and tried all boot priority alternatives, but to no avail. If I unplug the Seagate drive, then everything works perfect again.
Please can somebody shed some light on this, as I don't want to have to re-install XP just to use this hard drive
