Wierd Windows Media Player Problem

We have a wierd problem at work. We do a lot of high speed digital filming of car crashes and when I create AVI's from the original footage using Ligos Indeo 5.11 codec it will play fine on my machine (running XP Pro SP2 and windows media player 9 ver 3349) it will also play fine on sevaeral other machines running win2K and the same WMP version.

However in the main engineers office they all have new dell machines running XP Pro SP2 with the same WMP version but the AVI's will not play on their machines.

I have installed the codec on their machines (as the codec does not come with XP as standard) but they still come up with an error saying the file is corrupt or of a format that is not supported. If you go online to get further error information then the Microsoft site says this error is not known and sorry we cannot help further.

We use independent proprietry software to create the AVI's and once that software is installed on these other machines then the videos will play fine through that software, but still not through WMP, so I am guessing it is not a codec issue.

One other anomaly is that when these videos are copied on to a Cd and the Cd is played through these new machine the videos play fine  ???????

Can anyone shed any light onto this problem as it is driving me a bit mad.

I am wondering if it some kind of admin rights issue with media player???

Cheers in adavance for any help
