A bit of a shock this morning to find my wife's car missing from the drive.

Had to double take as the wife is away with her work (school teacher on a trip with pupils) and I thought "She didn't take her car".
No forced entry, keys still in the house and haven't been able to find out when it disappeared as nothing activated on neighbours door cam.

Police informed, but little they will do until it turns up somewhere and insurance notified. Not the best start to the day. :(

Keyless entry/start. They probably used a signal booster and it was gone in seconds. Once started they don't need to key to keep it running.

It's ridiculous manufacturers didn't consider this obvious vulnerability when coming up with it.

Scum!

I had that feeling when my R6 got stolen. Your brain takes a while to process it's missing and it shouldn't be.

Hope there is a positive outcome to this for you.

Yeah unfortunately modern car manufactures seem to apply the Grand Theft Auto logic to security, pretty much anyone can walk up to them and just drive away! :(

Either a man in the middle where they pick up the signal or nowadays just get into the canbus network somewhere, by pulling a wheel arch liner off etc and then the car just unlocks and they can drive away.

What car? Worth seeing if theres a stolen car group for your area. I see many people post about random cars parked in their road and turns out they have been stolen and parked up.

Yea probably if the car is old enough. It may have been fully cracked by now. Easy steal. Even a faraday container won't help then.

Ford Fiesta Titanium (2014) - Posted it up on our local village facebook group, but it could be long gone by now - especially with the full tank of petrol in it.

A Farady box doesn't help with the Fiesta's, the alarm has a blind spot that allows access to the OBD port without going off and a new key is coded via the OBD port.

Yea on the MK7, not sure about the MK8. Other Fords are the same. You have to reach quite far in to actually set the motion sensor off, no glass break sensors either. Rubbish.

I suspect a lot of modern cars are the same though. Alarms aren't as sensitive (or loud!) as they used to be.

Or just yank the OBD2 fuse and have the keyless entry system disabled. Which is far cheaper :P
