WiFi 7 Mesh recommendations?

I'm looking for recommendations for WiFi 7 Mesh systems to replace a very old mesh. A key requirements is that I will need to run WiFi backhaul, hence looking at WiFi 7 systems. I don't have a specific budget but money is reasonably tight so value for money is fairly important over the absolute cutting edge equipment. This will be to go into a three story Edwardian property with very thick walls so anticipate needing more than the usual three nodes. Thank you.

Netgear Orbi 770 Series likely out of budget but that would be my go to for your use case.

At the more budget friendly end, the TP-Link Deco BE65 or if you need cheaper the TP-Link Deco BE22/25.

Thanks. Yes agree about Orbi 770. It's what I was looking at - apart from the price.

I'll take a look at the TP-Links. Thank you.

Ive got an Orbi 970 and Ive been really impressed with it. I guess it depends how long term youre considering the purchase for, personally I dont know when it will be that I need to replace this outside it failing, given its connectivity features. Till we get past 10gb internet I cant see any reason to make a change and I dont see that happening soon.
Main reason ive been impressed with it is the strength of the backhaul, mine is currently pushing 4Gbps at about 10m distance through a floor and a concrete wall which is impressive, my older orbi 850 couldnt manage more than 850Mbps in the same position. Ive also been impressed with the MLO connectivity. My new ipad will hold the 5&6ghz bands and maintain 900+mbps speed where by older iphones need to drop down to 2.4ghz and only manage 120Mbps. Granted that is no doubt to do with the older devices but as time moves forward and devices get upgraded I can see the router being a good investment.
It was ridiculously expensive though so if you cant stretch to an orbi system the unifi system above looks a good option and you can always add to it over time. Unifi stuff is great.

I have recently deployed some UX7 kit in a few family members homes, it just works like most Unifi kit :) Another vote from me!

Do you need to buy now?

WiFi 8 kit is launching shortly which has a lot of quality of life features over WiFi 7 when dealing with mesh networks.

No the WiFi 8 standard is not expected to be ratified until 2028 but as with almost all WiFi revisions, the kit shows up long before it is.

e.g. https://www.tp-link.com/us/press/news/22486/ - I bet it costs £££ mind as WiFi 7 did at launch.

Buying first gen kit before the standard is ratified, at the point where you’re simply paying the early adopter tax has rarely - if ever - worked out well in terms of Wi-Fi standards. Let alone someone on a tight budget, who needs more nodes than usual due to the property construction, and the wireless backhaul requirement.

Op, I haven’t run any of the Deco Wi-Fi 7 nodes yet, but the 5 and 6 versions are solid, have ongoing support, dedicated radio backhaul rather than shared last I looked, and hard to argue with for the money and flexibility. Of course they do better with a wired backhaul, but you know that.

I have been using Asus BQ16 and BT10 for a couple of years now, no complaints always great performance. I think the only thing I would knock it for is only having 2 10Gb ports and the rest being 1Gb, really there shouldn't be a port less than 2.5Gb these days but fine if you are using Wifi backhaul. Quite a few units like the TPO link archer do 2x10 and 4x2.5 and it is worthwhile as you can do a wireless backhaul link around 5Gb between floors.

IF locked to wifi backhaul then you'll have two fast ports to use but worth noting if like me before wiring backhaul that you needed to do a lot of repeating and using wifi between mesh nodes you'll want to pay out more for units with more bands and better antenna and band setup, 4x4 rather than 2x2, to have all the bandwidth to give you good multi gig wifi speeds in use.

If you need the speed of course mine dropped quite a bit on the old 2x2 repeating between floors up to the Attic office but if you only need a few hundred Mb 2x2 will be fine.

I too would wait for Wifi 8 considering your wifi backhaul mesh target and the improvements it is supposed to bring but I don't mind being earliy adopter
