I didn’t know such a thing existed until I saw one on Amazon by chance but they seem a good idea. Am I right to be concerned that they look like cheap Chinese made products? I know everything is made in China these days but I always like to buy a reputable brand when it comes to something that is plugged in all day. Has anyone got one or know of one from a more trusted manufacturer?

You could use a smart socket and a regular extension as it will get you a little more choice when buying.

Obviously observe any power limits sensibly and don't just go plugging in a 3kW heater to a socket rated for 500W! Reputable brands are more likely to state/honestly state their power rating.

I need control of 3 lights independently so a single smart socket won’t work here.

Unfortunately that won't give you control over any individual sockets.

I bought a Meross one a few months ago (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Meross-Goo...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=)

The build quality looks as good as any other branded one. Easy to set up, and supports various ways of controlling the sockets.

Thanks, I’ll check that one out.

Didnt even know these existed. Might be just what i need for my fishtank.

Can you name the sockets in the app, i.e each of the 4 outlets on the strip?

Yep that you can do. And then if you're after voice control, you can ask it to switch on/off individual sockets.

I've been quite impressed with mine that I suspect I'll end up buying a few more.

Any chance of a screenshot of the app and what it can do etc?

I set up my namings through Home Assistant, so these were more for identifiable purposes.

Thanks for that looks just what i need.

Can you set timers on the outlets i.e i want to switch this off for 15 mins and then have it
Come back on automatically?

Yep you can set up scheduling, so essentially you just pick which socket, what time, and whether you want it on/off.

Could you not just have gone for 3 WiFi enabled bulbs?

No, 2 are bed side lamps on goose necks with fixed led bulbs and the third is LED strip light which could have been independently controlled but this is an all in one solution.

It arrived yesterday and works a treat for anyone considering one.

Fair enough.

Tbh I'm glad you've got one and it works. One might come handy for me soon.
I have an almost 3yr that doesn't like going to sleep in the dark but has to have multiple lamps on.
