Hi,

I have wired CAT6 cables into each room around my house, to a switch, router etc - all work well.

I have a wifi black spot at the far back of my house.
I want to plug some sort of wifi antenna into the ethernet socket in that room, to improve the wifi.

What am I best to purchase please?

Sky sent me one of their extenders - but it doesnt plug into the ethernet socket and work that way.

Thanks

Ubiquiti UAP AC Lite would suite your needs. If you have an ethernet port to hand in the room you want wifi the last thing you should settle for is an extender you want a full blown AP.

Do you have any old wireless routers lying about? Pretty much any wireless router should be able to be used as a wireless access point, all they are after all is a router, a switch, and a wireless access point all in one device, so it's as simple as turning off what you don't want.

Connect the prospective access point to your wired network where the dead spot exists, turn off DHCP on the prospective access point, set it to a static IP within the range of your home network and you're ready to go pretty much.

Unless you're going to be really hammering it, you require enterprise levels of reliability, or massive range, I wouldn't waste your money on something too serious.

Ordered the Ubiquiti UAP AC Lite - gets good reviews.
I may even add another if it is as good as they say.

Thanks for the help

Good choice. You may need to adjust the Transmit power down a bit since you're only serving a room or two, probably more so on the 2G radio as it transmitS further then 5G.

Been great so far.
I have quite a big house with a large extension at the back.
Thinking of relocating it at the back of the extension on the rear wall facing the main house - as it will cover the upstairs bedroom at the back as well.
