Ok I have a 30MB internet connection and I really want to speed up my wifi as I am currently using G and am thinking of going over to N. I have a DLink DI 524 and would like advice on a good upgrade. I have a PC and a PS3 on my network and they both have to connect wirelessly due to the location of my one internet connection. Would a N router setup be faster for me or is it just a waste of money?

Are you sure your internet is 30MB and not 30mbps?

That current router would be fine for your connection if that was the case.

802.11g wireless won't saturate 12Mbps, let alone 30Mbps. You need to make sure all the devices you use do 802.11n to see the maximum benefit though.

Would a homeplug setup be as fast as N? I only ask as my apartment is very small and therefore the wiring does not have far to travel.

Can I just ask a question? I'm thinking of going wireless within the home as I need to move the PC upstairs and was wondering if you lose much speed over the current cable setup (BT). Particularly for downloading large files.

Downloading you won’t see any loss if you are on a BT 8Mb service, networking and transferring you will see a noticeable drop in speed.

Is there much difference when getting a router faster than 54mbps?

The only broadband connection I can get in my area atm is 1meg so I'm guessing it won't affect me much?

Depends what you're talking about - 54Mbps wireless is a good bit faster than a 1Mbps internet connection, but it'll be faster if you're trying to transfer files within the network.
