Hi, just waiting to recive my brand new Ford Fiesta and was wondering about getting built in wifi. Could anybody tell me what would be the best way to go please in getting wifi in my car please.

A mi-fi unit with sim card. Wire it in using a piggy back wire using the cigarette lighter fuse if you want it hidden in the glovebox.

MiFi and a data contract. Power the MiFi off the USB port. If the MiFi has a microsd port you might be able to store MP3's for the car stero.

There all a much of a muchness. I have about 4 different ones that i dish out to our site guys. Huawei seem to be the smallest. Alcatel Y800 is about the size of a standard mobile phone, has a nice charging stand, not that you'll need that for in-car.
Why do you want wifi in car? it's just another device with a data sim contract. Is it not just as easy tethering to/from your existing mobile phone? Depends on your usage i guess. But 4g still aint everywhere yet so choose your network wisely my son! :)

Network provider is the main thing to look at. And how much data you'll need.
I guess you need a few friends on different networks and drive your normal route and see who has the best network coverage on average. I'm not sure if any of the MiFi's support external antenna's but thats something else that might help depending on how critical it is.
If its just so the kids can stream netflix in the car on long trips then you won't want a 12 month contract.

I'd just use a cheap phone which would be additionally useful as you'd have a second phone then set it up as hotspot. If you don't care about the number there are lots of silly deals popping up where you can get a fair bit of data for not much money. Right now EE are giving away 100GB of data which last for 2 months if you get a Christmas sim and will only cost you £10 & Asda are doing 12GB for a Fiver.

I use my old Galaxy S3 still running on a Three All-You-Can-Eat package, works a treat!

Forgive my ignorance, but how is it any different to using a mobile phone in the car? Why pay for another contract or am I missing something?

That is kind of the point FF, there is no real need to go this route, but obviously its the OP's choice.
You can get external antennae on some of the Huawei E series of mifi modems btw.

This

Use your phone as a hotspot if you want others in the car to have Wifi.

No need to pay twice for something you'll rarely use!

Okay not being daft then!

I guess thinking about it not all price plans allow for tethering.

Maybe he has a family who will all want to smash data while in the car?

Is there ever a need to smash data in a car to the level of needing wifi?

Yes I bet all the Korean Kid's are playing Starcraft 2 while the parents drive. So if you want a future gaming champ, you need 4G in the car.

Or the OP spends a lot of time in the car... hopefully when stationary and has the privacy curtains installed....

My car has a WiFi hotspot, hand on heart have never used it except to test it.

It also has WiFi as a source-in for the radio, which I do use from time to time.
