Thinking about getting an iPad.
Does tethering work as well as having a cellular data version of the iPad. I've never used my phone as a hotspot so no idea how good it is.
I've always got my phone and don't see any point paying for another sim

wonder what improvements they will make

mate just got an original ipad for £120, tempted to get similair as I omainly want it for google/streetview for work but also not keen on buying old tech!

If by original ipad you mean the iPad 1 then your friend made a bad decision as the iPad 1 (which I still have) is next to useless other than being a photo viewer. The 256mb of ram was a big limitation back in the day - moreso even now for web browsing especially.

Since you want one for streetview, I'd recommend a refurb iPad 3 with Retina display if they're still being sold that is. Just don't stick iOS 8 on the thing!

iOS 8 has crippled a few iPad 2's. I haven't see iOS 8 in use on them but heard from 3 or 4 people with them it makes them really bad

I'm going to jump in on the back of this and ask if it is possible to connect an iPad via a Bluetooth tether.

My nexus 5 can act as a tether via Bluetooth to my windows laptop and android tablet, however if I try and tether via Bluetooth to my iPad whilst the Bluetooth pairs it does not seem to grant internet access.

Is this feature not allowed on an iPad? Or do you have to use wifi? I prefer Bluetooth as it uses less battery. And it works with all my other devices but just doesn't work with this bloody iPad (it is a work one not my own).
