I can no longer connect my SGS3 to my home wifi, used to work fine...setup a wifi hotspot for someone at work one day, and since then it will not connect...just says authenticating and then that it has failed due to poor connection.

Everything else connects to the wifi fine, gfs SGS3, 2 tablets, laptop

Rebooted router, tried putting settings to WEP on phone but same problem

Any ideas? :(

double check the date and time!
Often you can be connected to a network but if the date and time is incorrect the internet bouncers don't let you on.

Yep its been removed and set up again numerous time, though if i tell it to forget the router it does, but still stays in my list, i still have to put the password etc in again...yes hotspot is turned off :(

Just tried connecting to another wifi spot that is not protected, does the same, obtaining IP address for ages then doesnt connect due to poor connection :(

Just checked the gfs settings, exactly same phone, bought same time and all system information is the same (kernel / android version everything) and her wifi connects straight away no problems :(

Factory reset your phone or try another router?

Think everyone is stumped on this one mate.

I have same issues with my phone tethering to a laptop. It used to work now it doesn't and every other phone connects to it and my phone connects to everything else. Only thing left to do is wipe the laptop. If that doesn't work then ill give up

I doubt it's your problem but I couldn't connect my S3 to a router once. The password had a couple of dashes in it. It turns out that that the S3 has a dash and a minus, one being a pixel or 2 longer than the other. I was using the wrong one.

Somehow your phone's not getting an ip from that router, it's a known bug (in 4.0) my N4 did that as well. Two options:

Either factory reset your device or Assign a static ip to your phone when connecting to wifi and it should work, (Use ur laptop/pc to get the ip details)

When i go in to set it a static IP it does not allow me to overtype the one that is in there :( Dont fancy factory resetting if i dont have too really :(

You need to 'Forget' the network then when you try and connect before you enter the password there's a advanced options button click on that and you can then input static Ip etc

That now connects, but it just keeps connecting, then disconnecting and connecting again :/
